THE TAX PLAN

THE TAX PLAN

Postby DazedandConfused » Sat Dec 02, 2017 8:31 am

What the Republicans did last night just saved me $8,000 as I go into retirement. It is a long story, but GOD BLESS DONALD TRUMP!!

Glad you’re getting that break, Dazed. :)

I may get a few hundred next year, but will face an increase by 2027........ of course I may not mind that if it means I’m still on this side of the sod.

Looks to me like a further transfer of wealth from the middle class to the rich........ and another trillion added to the national debt.

Corporations have been making record profits for the last ten years....... do they really need a tax cut, or could we close those loopholes that bring their effective rate down from 35% to 14% If their rate goes to 20% and the loopholes aren’t closed, does that mean they’ll get tax credits every year?

Trump will save another billion on estate tax........ god bless him!

Hopefully, voodoo economics will work this time!

Anyway, it still has to go through a joint session to iron out the differences between the House and Senate! Maybe they’ll come to their senses........ Naaaaah

DDeath, I don't obsess about the rich. I have spent 40 years trying to win the lottery, and I just don't think it will happen. I am a simple man and I don't buy toys. Even if I hit the lottery I wouldn't go crazy. My actual savings will be more like $3,000, the other 5 comes from the move I am making. You are not going to beat the rich at their own game. The politicians are all rich - that is just the way things are and always will be. I will be comfortable, and that is a lot more than many people can say. I have spoke my peace about avarice, and nothing has ever made any difference, so I just make my bed for myself.

Dazed, I've reached the point where I'm not going to outlive my savings. It's funny that I can now afford to buy almost anything I want........ but don't want anything.:o

I only worry about things like the national debt, because of my grandchildren and their eventual children........... I think they're screwed if something isn't done! :(

DDeath, I firmly believe that the answer is not socialism. We were built on capitalism, and the nightmare that is Europe cannot be our model. Your grandchildren will not thrive in a socialist America.

Dazed, there are many instances where socialism is OK, like our armed forces, our postal system, social security and Medicare.

National healthcare is better and cheaper when overseen by government! The insurance industry naturally does not want it. But what do they do......... they take your money, my money and others’ money; take out their BILLIONS in profits, and then pay doctors, hospitals, labs, etc. for services. THEY ARE ONLY MIDDLEMEN and serve no useful purpose.

I know some countries have very good national healthcare and some have poor national healthcare. I think we could come up with as good or better system than any country. We could probably cover everyone........ and ALL save money!

DDeath,

My own experience has been that private healthcare through private insurers is better than overseen government healthcare, including the military as active duty and retired.

By default, socialized medicine will rationalize healthcare, limit testing and limit procedures, based on government preferences and costs for other subsidized programs. I'd prefer paying into a pool where I have control over my treatment options and other. Older folks like us on death's end of the queue don't matter (like you and me). Treatment won't be an option, because it isn't cost productive. As long as I have the means to pay, then I'll take on that responsibility myself.

What's more important is that you send me those ^%*(&&^%(*$# cherry pastries that I've been requesting!

Waal Tex, I don’t know what kind of experience you’ve had with national healthcare, but I know most systems are cheaper for us average folks and lifespans in many countries are increasing more than ours. We luv our Medicare!

I’ll send a shipment soon....... but did you know eating one cherry pastry shortens your life by 12 minutes? I figure I’ve already lost 3 hours and 36 minutes, this year.

Kinda like all govt programs....take your money, pull a bunch off the top to run their "special interest programs" and fill their own pockets and send a little back to you claiming they are working in your "best interests"

THEY ARE ONLY MIDDLEMEN and serve no useful purpose.
So, the govt makes a better or more efficient MIDDLEMAN :?:

another trillion added to the national debt.
That "estimate" they try to scare you with,is spread over 10 yrs....that is what they claim.....obama did that 12 fold in just 8 yrs...but I guess that was just fine.

Trump will save another billion on estate tax
How obvious is the "class envy in that statement?

Corporations have been making record profits for the last ten years....... do they really need a tax cut, or could we close those loopholes that bring their effective rate down from 35% to 14% If their rate goes to 20% and the loopholes aren’t closed, does that mean they’ll get tax credits every year?
That wouldn't even be a question with a flat rate system, now would it?
What is the POINT of of a tax code that is thousands of pages long, paying lawyers , accountants, and other employees to do all the stupid paperwork to try to not pay any taxes....the money wasted on such things would be FAR less than a 10 percent tax on all income with NO deductions and NO "credits".
Stupid is as Stupid does :!:
And the dem senators whine because the new tax code is a couple hundred pages instead of thousands.
Whining about law being passed in the middle of the night behind everybody's back and them not having time to "read it".....really ??? After they themselves have approved budget extensions time after time "in the middle of the night", just to kick the can down the road!!!
Passed thousands of pages of obama care in the middle of the night, and told the rest of congress they "would have to PASS it to find out what all was in the 'plan' ". (did we forget that one too). I would be all up in their "grill". Politicians....what a bunch of hypocrites all.

..................................................................just saying................................... ;)

one cherry pastry shortens your life by 12 minutes? I figure I’ve already lost 3 hours and 36 minutes, this year.
I sure hope that Moravian sugar cake doesn't have that effect :!: :!: That would mean I have 23 minutes to live :o

Jeez Geez, I agree with some of what you say. Just one question. If the 20% corporate rate passes, shouldn't ALL the loopholes be closed? :?:
