Now wait jest a gotdamn minute, DDeath! If you knowed the music forum, then you sure as Hell knowed Dazed and I talked bout' Sam Cooke in the past. My explanation is simply that Sam Cooke is one of the finest vocals of all time. Of course there are others, and they represent a gotdamn cross section of ethnicity, cola'r, race or whatever. Your Sam Cooke pick is one of my favorites, along with this one:

Do you hear Lou Rawls in there too? Now flip me a cherry pastry! :D

Ucanit: You're tops on taste', given your knowledge of the Moonglows! Here's my all time favorite from 1955:

Listen to the clip between 1:23 -1:48 -- Wow!

Let's take it to Buffalo WNY territory with KeepItReal and the Skyliners:

WestTx, you dog!!! Every number listed on the right side of that utube clip for that Moonglows' song (Sincerely) almost brought tears to my eyes. I love 'em all.

kir, I must have sung Marty Robbins' "El Paso" millions of times in my young and tender years!! Thank you, Buddy. I enjoyed your post and I'm sorry you've been under the weather. Nothing serious, I hope!!!!

One of the first sax solos I ever learned was the little lick between 1:12 and 1:32 of this Mar-Keys recording of "Last Night! (Do the Pop-Eye)"

Naw DDeath, cuz that ain't the case! I know vocal talent when I hear it. Paige has been a long time favorite, and Boyle just adds to the pool of recent talent to show up. Don't forget that I've mentioned Judith Durham from a number of clips. All you boys know where to pull the talent from. I jest tend to follow more from 1950 - 1967.

KeepItReal: Thanks for the Marty run. I've played his tunes in here too. My younger years were spent in West Texas (Alpine and El Paso). Stay healthy...
